The first time I found about this show I was scrolling through my tumblr. It catched my eye because that weird but also cool looking gun, and because of that cute redhead cop, not gonna lie. Luckily at the time, Wynonna Earp was recently added to netflix and I binge watched the little demon in less than 2 days. And I rewatched it the next week. I was in love with the sassy, I-don'-give-a-fugde-but-actually-do Wynonna. I wanted to protect Waverly with my whole self, and I loved Doc Holliday to the point I stopped making fun of his stupid mustache. Dolls was such a badass, and I was mad that Nicole Haught (because of course) wasn't in the show more.

Cut to the premiere of season 2, and boy what a ride.

Last we saw our kids, Wynonna had just shot dead her big sister Willa, Dolls had been arrested, and her baby sister touched some mysterious goo that turned her eyes black and then she took a shot at Doc. But as it turns out, in the premiere we learn that she actually tried to shoot a demon that was behind the guy, which only pissed the big monster even more.

Waverly and Doc try to run for their life and in the whole ordeal the demon eats Doc's hat (RIP 1835 - 2017), before Wynonna comes to the rescue and shot the thing dead, not without delivering an introduction so cheesy it would make James Bond proud.

They decide to use the deceased monster to rescue Dolls, whatever that means. Cut to the deputy, who is now practically being tortured by agent Lucado who we damn well know is in a personal vendetta against the guy. She informs Dolls he is being transferred to Black Rock Prison the next day, later we learn that the prison is so hardcore his life expectancy there will be around two months or less, yikes.

Back in purgatory, we learn that Sheriff Nedley is blaming Wynonna for the whole finale fiasco, because he needs something not supernatural and the entire town already hate the older Earp. Wynonna is of course not surprised by this and just rolls with it. However Nedley says he is grateful for her, plus a retelling of a batman line here and there (honestly, I'm with Wynonna, he is truly a monster). But, the big thing here is that Black badge division is in the office and is taking all of Dolls' stuff. But as Nedley points out, he is too stubborn and smart to keep anything important there, so Wynonna sets out to find all of his stuff, which means she needs to figure out where Dolls has been living this whole time.

When she finally founds his motel room (after four tries) full of lab stuff, turns out he wasn't alone there, and we are treated to a fantastic underwear fight, with great one-liners, as always. A scene so refreshing, I was in awe. A woman fighting with another one on her underwear, that wasn't sexualized, what a time to be alive, anyways moving along. We learn that the other girl is Agent Eliza Shappiro (Rachel Skarsten), another Black Badge agent who was in town to warn Dolls about the bad deed black badge has and help him figure it out what they, plural, are. (The whole yellow glowing eyes thing). However Eliza warns Wynonna that Dolls can already be dead, or worse.

Meanwhile, Waverly is treating Nicole's wound from where Willa shot her, and Nicole is the first one to notice that her girlfriend is different, apparently from taste. Doc enters to the kitchen asking about the well being of the younger of the Earp's, Willa was her sister too after all. Waverly let's Doc know she actually feels strong (Black goo probably).

Wynonna and Eliza go back to the homestead, when the group makes acquaintance with agent Shappiro, Nicole is introduced as Waves girlfriend, and John Henry, because being Doc Holliday would be ridiculous. Together they make up a plan to rescue Dolls, but first they need to figure out where they are keeping him. Cue them breaking in his office to kick the black badge people cleaning the place.

Doc and Wynonna dress up as Black Badge cleaners and infiltrate the place, while somehow Eliza crawls up into the ventilation system and disables the alarms. The back and forth between Wynonna and Eliza at this point is already my favorite thing about this episode.

Back in the Earp homestead, Waverly and Nicole are going through weapons to go do their part of the plan, and Nicole questions her girlfriend if she is okay with them working together, to which Waverly just answers yes, but practically ignoring everything else Nicole was saying, the younger Earp is playing with an ax that swings way too close to the redhead, while the demon eyed goo possessing her girlfriend takes control. But at the end, Waves asks Nicole to help her with the actual plan, which is to also infiltrate the Black Badge place from the front door, as a Scotland yard agent with the head of demon they killed early.

And is fantastic to hear Dominique Provost-Chalkley's actual accent, which makes even more hilarious Nicole input on how horrible her fake accent is. However the plan B needs to change to plan C as Wynonna and Co, are trapped in a staircase because Eliza's privileges had been revoked, so Waverly needs to trick the lab guy into open all the doors on the facility. When she kinda tricks Jeremy the lab guy (Varun Saranga) into telling her how to do so, she knocks him with the clear intent to keeping him out of her way but only manages to makes him bleed, which enrages the demon of the same species of the one Waverly was carrying it's head around.

The thing is called a Hala, a bulgarian devourer of souls, as cute as it sounds. Waverly and Jeremy escape for a minute, and she panics enough to tell him the truth. Jeremy is understanding and actually helps her, but they need to go back and take back peacemaker that is hidden into the severed head of the hala from Purgatory. Black goo demon takes over and calms enough the Hala who is alive for the next 10 seconds until Wynonna comes to the rescue just in time to kill the devourer of souls but late to actually see her sister's eyes.

Doc who had split from Eliza and Wynonna to rescue Dolls, aware of the possibility that the deputy could have devolved to his animal self, goes prepared with dynamite to blow him up, but he finds himself against agent Lucado, who he threatens with said dynamite, and intimidates her enough to make her take a step back into the reach of deputy Dolls who manages to knock her out.

Dolls is way to weak to escape the place, but Doc helps him as far as he can. Doc gives him a little of the drug Dolls needs to not devolve, and he gain a little stamina, enough to escape the site, not before seemingly telling Doc a message to pass on Wynonna. Something he never does.

Black Badge people corner up Doc, at the same time Wynonna, Eliza, Waverly and Jeremy (Ride or die, dude) are trying to get out the facility when they get face to face with Lucado, who points at them with a gun. Lucado's superior, Moody (Kevin Hanchard), gets there just in time to stop her from shooting the purgatory people, Doc now included. Moody then proceeds to make them all work in behalf of black badge.

However Agent Lucado demands someone to pay for treason. Moody agrees and takes Lucado's gun to shoot Eliza right in the face, without even a blink (RIP, I already miss you). Black badge boss, at gun point makes Wynonna and Co, sign the contract with blood, cute. And when Moody asks if there is anyone else who knows about black badge and what they do, Waverly deny it to protect Nicole. Something the redhead doesn't really appreciate.

Back in purgatory, Nicole and Waverly briefly discuss about the whole black badge thing, and Nicole turns her head when her girlfriend is going to kiss her goodbye. Wynonna and Doc flirt a little but Doc gives the girl space to mourn her older sister, something she proceeds to do in Willa's room, when some bright light catches her eye. It turns out it's Dolls who gives Wynonna back her necklace she lost in the black badge facility, and with a manly single tear and without a word she bids goodbye, because he is now on the run.

Back in the homestead, the Earp sisters talk about what is now their mission, kill not only revenants but also demons, so the usual, but as Wynonna states: Her only real job is keep her baby sister safe. But we know Waverly is already not really safe as her eyes turn completely black one last time in this episode.

Cut to the black badge site, when we see a mysterious hand reaching out to take one of the dynamite packs Doc lost and setting it on fire, so here comes the boom.

At the end, season 2 premiere of Wynonna Earp felt a lot like a part 2 of the finale, continuing the plot of the last season, but furthering the mission to keep the bad out of purgatory dealing now not only with revenants but also the demons trying to get in town, and the bad yuyu Black Badge has between hands. The show still has it's humor and fantastic one liners that are so much fun, delivering a solid hour of television. Chemistry between the entire cast continues to be off the roof, with the fantastic leadership of Melanie Scrofano who is without a doubt the star of the show.

Score: 4/5
