Weekly Movie News [June 18 - 24]

Over the week, (each week) a series of news about movie drops, here you can find the most relevant ones at the end of every week.
Amy Pascal teased Spider-man: Homecoming (it's sequels) and the upcoming Venom, Black Cat and Silver Sable movies were connected. Since then the Sony head executive has clarified her comments, stating that while the Venom, Black Cat, and Silver Sable will most likely be connected to Spider-man, they won't be connected to the MCU. Which leaves the door open to Tom Holland (Spider-man, Peter Parker) to appear in both movies.
Scarlett Johansson teases 32 characters in a scene of Infinity War. The actress could have been exaggerating, as while is possible for the 32 marvel characters to be in the same frame on a movie, is highly unlikely as it would confuse audiences.
XXX 4. Vin Diesel latest outing as Xander Cage took $346,147,658 worldwide, with a budget of $85 million it was a financial success. As such there is apparently a sequel on the works produced by H Collective. No word yet if any of the former cast will be attached.
Lord and Miller exit young Han Solo movie. Directors departing after creative differences with a studio is fairly common these days. Which is uncommon is directors parting ways after filming around 80% of the movie. Since their departure, Ron Howard has been tapped to direct the rest of the movie and it's subsequent re shoots.
Daniel Day Lewis announces retirement. The 3 times Oscar winner, and possible the best actor of his generation has announced he is retiring from acting. He has one last movie to premiere later this year. Lewis has always been known for his method acting and on how rarely he takes a role. In a statement released by his agent, the actor said he won't be giving any other information on the matter.
Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in talks to star in the Paul Feig's directed thriller A simple favor. The movie, is about a mommy blogger in a small town and her best friend who suddenly vanishes. The murder mystery is based on book by Darcey Bell that sold as part of a two-book deal from HarperCollins.
Geoff Jones is writing Wonder Woman 2. With the current success of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, which is still on it's theatrical run and has already surpassed BvS' numbers, is no surprise DC is already working on the next movie for the heroine. Is still unclear if Jenkins would direct this movie, but is safe to say DC wants her in their team.
Venom movie has it's bad guy. The upcoming Sony project will reportedly have Carnage as the villain to the anti hero Venom, who will be played by Tom Hardy. How much of their origin will be used on the film is still unclear, but the project is shaping nicely with it's leading actor.
Fox will try again. A Fantastic Four reboot is reportedly on the work at the 20th century fox studio, with the children of Sue Storm and Reed Richards as protagonist. The latest reboot of the franchise was both a financial and critical bomb. But the studio has to do a movie with the characters from time to time to secure the rights. If not, they would go back to Marvel Studios. If this re imagining is successful wait for the x-men crossover, as technically Franklin and Valeria Richards are both mutants.
Jurassic World 2. The sequel to the 2015 movie debuted a teaser poster with the official tittle of the movie. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will premiere on 2018, directed by J.A Bayona, and it's trailer is rumored to premiere later this years on the SDCC.
Mini-Aquaman. DC has already casted Otis Jai Dhanji as 13 years old Arthur Curry, but news has surfaced that there is an even younger Arthur. Kaan Guldur will portray the 9 years old version of the king of atlantis. Aquaman is set to premiere in late 2018, directed by James Wan, starring: Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin, Dolph Lundgren, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Temuera Morrison, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Patrick Cox.
X-men Superstar. Dazzler is set to have a small role on the upcoming X-men: Dark Phoenix movie. Dazzler was basically a cameo on the latest x-men movie, on a scene was cut from the final film. Rumors were flying back then that Taylor Swift had been cast for the role. True or false these rumors, fox is searching for a new Alison Blaire.
First man, multiple men. The next Damien Chazelle directed movie, First Man has found a few new stars, as Corey Stoll, Kyle Chandler and Jason Clarke will join Ryan Gosling on the film. First Man will tell the story of Neil Armstrong, and re-teams La La Land's Chazelle and Gosling. Set to debut on 2018.
