Spoilers ahead.

Holy cold opening, batman.

The first thing we see is Walder Frey, greeting his people with a feast, and a toast with fine wine. He he congratulates them for being the men who made the Red Wedding possible. But “You didn’t slaughter every one of the Starks,” Walder Frey informs them as they start to choke with what is clearly poisoned wine. “Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe.” You guess it, it was actually Arya, pretending to be Lord Frey. As she was leaving, she let the servant girl knows that "the north remembers".

In her long journey she came across a soldier camping [well.. hello Ed Sheeran, I guess] in river land, they give her food and conversation, and even laugh when she tells them she is going to king's landing to kill the queen. Little do they know she's telling the truth.

With a vision of the white walkers marching, Bran finally arrives with Meera to the wall, and convinces the guard they are who they claim to be.

Jon and Sansa argue in front of the lords of the north, for how to proceed with the Houses Karstark and Umber, who swore loyalty to the Starks but fought beside the Boltons, as traitors Sansa wants to kick them out of their castles, Jon doesn't like the idea of someone pay for the mistakes of others. He let the new lords from House Karstark and House Umber swear loyalty. And informs all the lords they need to find Dragon Glass, make weapons with it, and train every boy AND girl. Some oppose to this, but Lyanna Mormont as always, slays and with a speech shut them down. “I don’t plan on knitting by the fire while men fight for me.”

Jon asks Sansa to not contradict him in front of the rest of the lords as she undermines his authority, she tells him, he needs to do better than their father and Robb, as she loved them, but both made stupid mistakes and lost their head for it. A raven from Cersei arrives, as she wants Jon to bend the knee or else...

Jon is curious as why his sister seems to almost admire Cersei, I learned a great deal from her, Sansa simply replies.

Littlefinger keeps trying to make Sansa betray Jon, but Sansa is not that easy to manipulate now, as she keeps giving him the cold shoulder. And Brienne is always at her side to protect her.

Cersei is trying to come up with a plan to face the enemies she has literally everywhere. She asks Jaime if he is afraid of her. She takes his answer as a yes. He wants to talk about Tommen's death, but his sister is not having it; they're ashes now, and we're bone and flesh. She let Jaime know that Tyrion has been named Hand to Daenerys, and that they're coming with a fleet. She blames him for letting Tyrion go and asks for advice on how to proceed. Jaime insist they need allies, and that they can't do anything, because it's winter.

Cersei, however, is two steps ahead of him and is already waiting for the arrival of Euron Greyjoy, who has a bigger fleet than his niece and nephew. When he arrives, he makes his intentions clear, the fleet for Cersei's hand in marriage. Jaime is not keen on the idea, but Euron is practically amused by him. In any case, Cersei doesn't accept his offer as he is unreliable and know for betray anyone if it suits him. Euron promises to return with a “precious gift” that will prove his worth.

At the citadel, Sam is going through his iinitiation as Maester and is going... slow, Sam is stacking books on a shelf and doing chores around The Citadel, including cleaning bedpans of the old Maesters, and again, and again. However the books he wants and need to reed to help Jon are under key, in the prohibited section. The Archmaester is one of the only people there who believe Sam about the existence of white walkers, but “Every winter that ever came has ended.”Archmaester Marwyn says Sam can’t access restricted books until he’s a maester himself. So Sam, decides to steal the books and read them on his free time, and he finds important information he immediately sends to Jon, there is Dragonglass on the mountains of Dragonstone.

Jorah Mormont is also in the citadel, and his greyscale now covers pretty much all his arm, he asks Sam if the Dragon Queen has arrived, Sam doesn't know anything about that.

Daenerys arrives at Dragonstone, just like Jaime predicted, her rightful home. She walks into her throne room, and up to the enormous throne, which is made of Dragon Glass and goes past it to the map room closely followed by Tyrion. The episode ends, as she asks: Shall we begin?

If you have been following this show for seven years, you know usually the first episode usually just sets up the seasons arc, while also remind where everyone is as the Westeros world is so big. The starter of Season 7 uses the same formula, just making sure the viewer has an idea on what's it's coming.

Score: 4.4/5
